Firefighter/EMT Michael Clark Schwink joined the United Communities Volunteer Fire Department in 2005. He was assistant treasurer, served two terms on the board of directors, and was on the uniform committee. In 2007, Michael was diagnosed with cancer and courageously battled the disease for two years. Michael succumbed to his illness on June 14, 2009.
He is survived by his newlywed wife and best friend, Melissa Lynn Schwink. He is also survived by a loving family, including his parents Patricia and Glenn Schwink; brother and sister-in-law, Christopher and Laura Schwink; maternal grandparents, Rena and Garrett German; his paternal grandfather, Eugene Schwink; mother-in-law, Pamela McNicol; father-in-law, Stuart McNicol; sister-in-law, Heather McNicol; nieces Olivia and Jesse; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
