Victor Size

Died July 1, 2008

Victor Howard Size, 51, of Stevensville, Maryland, and formerly of Bladensburg, Maryland, died July 1, 2008, while at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis with his loving wife, Laurie, and his family by his side. Victor was born in Washington, DC, on January 31, 195,7, and was the son of Al and Gerry Size of North Beach, Maryland.

Mr. Size worked for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) in the capacity of Emergency Management Officer and Fire Life Safety Liaison, where he was instrumental in providing significant training programs and hands-on learning experiences involving subway operations to over 15,000 emergency services personnel locally and worldwide. He has served as a member of the Washington Metropolitan Area Council of Governments Passenger Rail Safety Subcommittee and mentored mass transportation experts from Israel, Malaysia, Korea, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Denmark, and the United Kingdom.

Mr. Size was a life member of the Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department and served as Fire Chief for the Department. After twenty-plus years of service in Marlboro, he relocated to Stevensville and served with the United Communities Volunteer Fire Department, where he was fulfilling his second term as Fire Chief when he passed. He held numerous training and educational certifications relative to his fire service career and his work with the transportation industry. In addition, he has served for years as a field instructor with the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute located at the University of Maryland in College Park. He also worked tirelessly for the Maryland State Firemen’s Association, the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association, and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
