The Kent Island ELKS held their annual youth fishing derby on July 4th. Department of Natural Resources Officers were also involved, measuring fish and offering tips to the kids, and Bass Pro Shop helped out with supplies. The derby was very successful with 166 kids participating this year, and 388 fish caught. Along with fish the kids also hooked, brush along the water’s edge, eels and the occasional turtle.

Lunch was provided by the ELKS, and they hope to get more kids involved next year.
